House Painting Preparation

Painting the house isn't just for the paint. There is always a preparation step and a final coat to be done. When the homeowner does the prep work they must take into consideration the health of themselves and their pets and do the work in a safe and secure environment. It is also important to note that house painting is not just for the younger generation. Older folks can be too. It is a lot of work, especially if you are a senior doing the work yourself. It can be tiring, dirty, dangerous and if it's your home, your whole family is involved in it. Your pets need a nice safe place to rest when they are not hunting down the holes in your wall.

House Painting Preparation

The final coat of paint is usually the last thing that people think of. It's the one they can't see but it can mean the difference between keeping your home clean and paint all over the place.

The final coat is the one the homeowner will need to clean up after themselves if they are tired of having water spots all over their home or having to spend money to fix things that are already dirty.

The final coat of paint on the interior of the home is also the part that is the most likely to catch any insect or spider, the part that may be hot, dry, dusty or moist.

Use a good quality primer for the final coat of paint. Many times people use a low quality primer to coat a final coat, not realizing that it causes the wall to become misshapen when dry. They don't put enough primer and then it looks blotchy with the finish showing through.

When painting the interior of the house, use a paint that is suitable for exterior use or use a paint that is suitable for exterior use or use a paint that doesn't dry. Not doing the proper preparation before painting also means that there will be misshapen areas. This can show up in just the final coat of paint but more so. It is an expensive mistake to make but not doing the preparation at all can cost you thousands of dollars in damage to your home.
